I try to keep my skincare routine as lean as possible with a face wash (Philosophy’s Purity is my favorite!), moisturizer (coconut oil & this Sunday Riley face oil), and the occasional face mask. Less products = less fuss = less time.. which probably explains why I often wear the same outfits.
With the change in season, I’m feeling the itch to switch up my routine and focus on buying cleaner skincare and makeup going forward. Here are 3 clean skincare products I tried in March!
Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner – Where has this toner been my entire life? 😭 It’s exactly what my skincare routine has been missing. Something that has bothered me about my skin for years are my noticeable pores, especially on my cheeks. I never really thought about addressing it – I just figured it was a part of having oily/dry skin. I stumbled upon this makeup tutorial by Alexis Ren (so beautiful) and she used this toner. Target carries it for $5 so you have nothing to lose. I have been using it daily both morning and night and it has been a miracle worker. My oily skin is now under control so I don’t look shiny 24/7 and my pores are close to gone! There’s no going back to a toner-less life.
Cocokind Organic Matcha Face Moisturizer – Earlier this month I had extremely dry, rough, flaky skin around my jaw/cheek area so I went on a hunt for a super hydrating moisturizer. Usually I refer to Sephora because I always trust their products and customer reviews, but this time I wanted to try something more natural, yet affordable. I was grocery shopping one afternoon at Mom’s Organic Market and saw they were selling Cocokind. I got so excited! I’ve seen Cocokind all over Instagram and have been wanting to get my hands on their products.
I was happy to see they sold a face moisturizer that claimed deep hydration and a super minimal ingredient list that is simply organic virgin coconut oil, organic matcha tea powder, organic pomegranate oil, and organic bergamot oil.
After several uses now, I’m honesty not too impressed. It’s very comparable to using organic coconut oil alone in terms of efficacy and texture. Unfortunately it doesn’t deliver the deep hydration I’m looking for. Other than the green color, the matcha powder isn’t doing much for me and I’m not sure how effective the pomegranate and bergamot oils are. It’s not great but definitely not bad, either. It was nice to try! I’ll finish using it but will not be repurchasing.
I would recommend it for people with dry skin who break out from using coconut oil alone. The matcha powder may help ease any irritation on sensitive skin. Note – it’s only for PM use before bed, not an AM/everyday moisturizer or else you’ll look greasy (not the cute dewy type).
Herbavoire Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask – I’ve been a little bored with my mask game lately. I love masks of all kinds so it’s fun to try new ones! The one I always have on hand is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask because it’s super affordable, works well, and one tub lasts an entire lifetime. Sometimes I’m dramatic and get lazy to make the mask (just mix clay powder and ACV together), so I want to find something that I can apply straight from the jar to my face. I read good things about this Herbavoire Blue Tansy mask and decided to pick it up at Sephora! I only got it 2 days ago, but am loving it so far! After the first use, I woke up glowing 🌟 My skin was noticeably softer and complexion was clearer. I’ve been getting some bumps under my skin and it helped smooth out the texture of those as well!
It feels tingly when you first apply it, then it turns cooling, and then dries a little tight. Once you wash the product off, it doesn’t look or feel like it has done much but wait until you wake up in the morning 😻 It has a simple ingredient list that includes blue tansy oil, white willow bark, papaya (yum!), and pineapple to name a few.
Overall, I would say 2/3 of the products I tried this month were a win! I don’t like to switch up my skincare regimen often to avoid freaking my skin out, but I’m going to start purchasing cleaner products to replace my old makeup/skincare as I run out.
Have you guys tried any of these? Let me know in the comments. Also would love to hear any recommendations ❤ Have a happy weekend!
